Planned Parenthood recently released an article with the headline "Anti Abortion Group Admits to Falsifying Latest Video." After doing some research, this claim is far more misleading than anything in any of the videos Center for Medical Progress (CMP) has released. But that's Planned Parenthood's spin machine at work for you.
First of all, any "suggestion" of the image being an "aborted fetus" is purely something Planned Parenthood is inferring or manufacturing, because there's no implication in the video that the image is an aborted fetus. Instead, former phlebotomist Holly O'Donnell talks about holding a 2nd trimester aborted fetus while the image is on the screen. There is no indication given that this is the fetus she is referring to, or even an example of an aborted fetus, and I doubt most people thought that it was. It seems fairly clear that the image represents what a human child looks like in that time frame and represents what O'Donnell would have seen if she were holding an intact aborted human being.
Second, the article tries to paint the lack of permission to use the photo as a horrendous injustice. In reality, while it may be wrong, it was nothing unusual for media sources and is not a major infraction on this woman's rights, considering her situation.
Which is why Planned Parenthood REALLY left out the woman's name:
She's pro-life. There's a reason she isn't taking legal action. She is proud of the picture, as she states on her own blog. https://f2photographybylexi.wordpress.com/…/walter-joshua-…/
"I wish that this hadn't happened, but it did for a reason. Maybe that reason was to share with the world how perfect a baby which is legal to abort in many states really is... If you have a problem with my faith and stance on abortion, just don't comment."
She also gave Live Action, a noted pro-life organization that often investigates Planned Parenthood, a 5 star review just one month ago. Live Action News, by the way, first shared her story and pictures.
So, based on her quotes, Lexi Fretz, mother of the late Walter Fretz, wanted her pictures to show the formation of a baby at 19 weeks and remind the world what a fetus up for abortion looks like. Which is exactly what CMP used it for.
And one more odd thing: many leading headlines on this issue are saying CMP made a mistake by referring to this image of a "stillborn baby" as a "fetus." But Walter died in the womb and exited the birth canal, just like any fetus would in an abortion. How in the world is that different and why in the world are we expected to apologize for their lack of consistency?
Ugh... Somebody stop the spin, I'd like to get off the ride.
