Society today wants us to believe that a child is a “clump of cells” until the time of delivery! We see pictures of fetuses and embryos, and are told to believe that this is not a human being. Every once in a while, however, Hollywood gives evidence that perhaps unborn babies are more than just ‘tissue.’
Jill Duggar and Duchess Kate Middleton recently announced that they are pregnant! This is some exciting news for both of them! Looking at the news articles and magazine titles, however, it is clear that these are not your average babies. “Baby Dilly” and the “Royal baby” already have their claim to fame being born into these families, but their impact may be more than they will ever know! When reading these article titles we see “Jill and Derick Dillard are expecting a baby” and “Kate Middleton pregnant with Royal Baby.” It does not day “Jill and Derick Dillard have a fetus” or “Kate Middleton pregnant with Royal Clump of Cells.” When it is a celebrity’s child, we immediately recognize that this is a fully formed human being with the right to life. If Jill and Derick’s baby, and Princess Kate’s baby are fully formed human beings, then aren’t all unborn children?
On 8 September 2014 the Royal Family announced that Kate Middleton and her husband Prince William, Duke of Cambridge were expecting their second baby. The news came two months after their first son, Prince George turned one. He was born on 22 July 2013.
Kate, 32, last week revealed to be in the early stages of her second pregnancy, hopes her first son George, now 13 months, and the new baby will have the same strong bond that she has with her own sister. (Source: Mirror Co UK)
The 19 Kids and Counting stars recently announced their first pregnancy and on Wednesday, Sept. 10, Jill happily revealed that she is 12 weeks and one day along.
The newlyweds’ decision to announce the news early was carefully thought out, with Jill telling Page Six, “Understanding that the majority of miscarriages happen within the first trimester. And believing that every life is precious no matter how young, we decided to share our joyful news as soon as we could." (Source: US Weekly)
Congratulations to Jill and Derick, and Kate and William! Thank you for recognizing the humanity of your children.
