The controversial topic of abortion in cases of rape is incessantly mentioned by pro-choice advocates. Broaching this subject is meant to drive pro-lifers into a corner and trick them into admitting that they don’t truly care about saving unborn lives. In pro-choice circles, disagreeing with abortion in cases of rape is a heinous offense. But might this inflexibility actually be consistency to a higher moral code?

I’ve had this “argument” thrown at me a few times, especially while going to a very liberal college.
Granted, to many, it may seem like some pro-lifers only care about the fetus while it’s still in the womb; we fight to ban different kinds of abortions, to shorten the timeframe of when a woman can obtain one, and fight to defund anything that supports the said industry. But what about after that?

Libertarianism is a philosophy built on the principles of personal and economic freedom (1). It says individuals possess certain inalienable rights. Government naturally covets power. These phenomena are perennially at odds with each other, and Libertarians support individual rights over political collectivism.
Despite valuing individual liberty, most libertarians are pro-choice (2). How can this be, when Libertarianism is predicated on the idea that all humans have basic rights that must not be violated, such as life, liberty, and property?
