Today’s young people are often the subject of much criticism. Being part of this category myself, we have a reputation of being self-absorbed, being lazy, and engaging in herd mentality. With a combination of modern luxuries and the availability of almost anything at the click of a button, some even remark the current generation lacks the hard working attitude that the “American dream” is made of.
These individuals make up Christianity Today’s list of 33 under 33. All 33 young people listed, as the title suggests, age 33 and younger and are truly making a difference in the country and beyond. The list is comprised of those “uniquely contributing in business an nonprofits, media organizations and ministries, academia and the arts. Some are up-and-coming in familiar institutions; others are venturing out with projects of their own.” These young faces are committed to advancing God’s kingdom.
Lila Rose was named one of these 33 individuals, and with good reason. Founder of Live Action at the young age of fifteen, she has managed to turn a passion into a thriving organization that has gained national and international attention. Ten years after its founding, Live Action continues to make headline news and reaches people all around the world.
Live Action is known for its innovative use of modern technology, such as undercover investigative journalism, to expose the abortion industry in pursing a world without abortion. Its mission statement reflects being a “new media dedicated to building a culture of life and ending abortion.” Rose commented, “Using online platforms, especially social media, has been a powerful way for Live Action to bypass traditional media structures that won’t talk about abortion and human dignity[.]”
Live Action also relies heavily on social media such as facebook, twitter, and youtube to reach its younger audience. In using these media outlets, Live Action has exposed the numerous violations committed by Planned Parenthood. Live Action’s innovative media use is training and equipping young people to let their voices be heard not only as their own, but for the voiceless as well. The new media movement of Live Action continues to inspire youth to take action against the greatest violation of human rights.
“As more young people join the movement, we get closer to a day when every life is protected, by love and by law,” said Rose. All of those contributing to the pro-life effort embody what the Bible tells believers to do—proclaim the kingdom of God “with all boldness and without hindrance!”
Christianity Today’s article demonstrates that this generation is comprised of innovative individuals taking the world by storm in a positive manner. Live Action in particular strives everyday to transform the culture of death agenda forced on our youth, to promoting all life has value. Live Action will continue to promote the culture of life until we see a society without abortion.
