Earlier this summer, Evan Ward wrote a great piece on the main root of abortion, premarital sex. In this post, I'd like to touch on a similar topic: the drinking and rape culture on college campuses.
Let’s go through two scenarios: the “common” one and the “increasingly common” one. Yes I realize things can go both ways and its not always this simple, but we have to start somewhere.
Now let’s say the girl is pregnant. She doesn't want to tell her parents or drop out of school. She doesn’t want to bring rape charges against a guy if she consented, but how can she know? “Blurred lines” isn’t just the title of a song, its some people harsh reality; and when you see it happen, all of sudden the song isn’t so catchy anymore. In her mind during that “Oh wow...I’m pregnant” moment, the easiest way through the situation - seemingly - is an abortion.
So what can be done on the ground level to prevent blurred lines and abortions? Tell us in the comments below how you can help your generation stop this Blurred Lines fad.
