Doctors are the first people to cradle human life in their hands. Whilst holding newborn babies, they are the first people to protect and support new life of outside the mother’s womb. However, many doctors today participate in the gruesome murders of our children by aborting them, sometimes via dangerous and illegal 'medical' procedures. This is paradoxical considering the pro-life pledge that doctors recite upon entrance into the medical field.
Even though the Hippocratic Oath, updated for the 21st Century world, isn't as explicitly pro-life, the pledge contains interesting food for thought. It warns doctors to “to deal with care in matters of life and death.” Currently, abortionists offer abortion at the cost of medical malpractice, patient endangerment, and blatant disregard for human life. Furthermore, the pledge warns doctors not to “play at God,” which is exactly what doctors do when they perform abortions!
Words such as these ring with conviction,“I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings.” All doctors would agree that the care of all humans is a thread that binds the field of medicine. Hasn't modern medical technology revealed to us the humanity of the unborn? Let us enlighten this increasingly and unprecedented medically-advanced age by emphasizing our special obligations to unborn humans. With modern technology and an ancient, tried and true pro-life oath on our side, let us resolve to proclaim the importance of human life to doctors and patients alike.
