Like many teens, 18-year-old Madeline Stuart refuses to take no for an answer--not from her doctors, society, or even the modeling industry.
This is Madeline. She's from Brisbane, Australia, and is an aspiring fashion model. Oh, and she also has Down's syndrome.
"Madeline would like to be a model, modelling will help change societies view of people with Down Syndrome, exposure will help to create acceptance in life," states her Facebook page, which she maintains with help from her Mom.
“Things were a lot different 18 years ago. I remember having her in a [stroller] when she was a baby and small-minded people telling me she should not be out in public," Madeline's mother, Rosanne, told BuzzFeed Life. "Her doctors told me she would never achieve anything," she said.
All the haters will just have to step aside, because Maddy — who is looking for an agent — is very secure in herself.
To pursue your passion, especially when people all around you say you can't succeed, takes guts. Maddy and her mom hope people everywhere can summon up enough to keep an open mind.
