At first glance, “finding the pro-life message in Hollywood” seems like an impossible task. Many people are quick to characterize the epicenter of popular culture as a place without any morality-affirming messages.
Though there have been some films that have been more quietly released, such as Bella (2006) and October Baby (2011), major studio films that celebrate a culture of life are rarer still. Thankfully, in the past couple of years, two movies have emerged that have subliminally carried pro-life undertones.
In order to produce more pro-life movies, we need more people that share such values. If Hollywood could shift into a celebrate-the-value-of-life gear, then it would be inevitable. Unfortunately there is strong opposition to any pro-life message and though the list of anti-abortion celebrities is admittedly short, I am positive there are others who are just too afraid to speak out. If only those actors, directors, and writers could speak out, maybe Hollywood would be a different place. In the meantime, we must support and appreciate the films that are produced and proclaim the beautiful gift of life.
