So this is a little bit more of a controversial post, but I thought i should explain my thoughts on it... and why I am against all forms of contraception.
I am against all forms of contraception, including birth control because it acts an an abortifacient, condoms, IUDS, etc... I don't think it's wrong to be on birth control for medical reasons, but It sadly still has side effects that affect women greatly like a higher risk for breast cancer, and increase in the chance of infertility down the road. Birth control is just bad for women's body period, even if someone is taking it for reasons like acne or cysts. It will have the same side affects( excluding acting as an abortifacient) as a women taking it to prevent getting pregnant. I think the best way and most ' accurate way' to prevent a Pregnanacy is self control... why is it that we have to separate sex from procreation when it was not intended to be that way? Birth control was invented to separate sex from procreation. When sex is separated from procreation, abortions will go up.
We live in an extremely sexualized culture, and its a culture that sees sex only as a source of pleasure. Sex is so much more than that! Our culture has sadly diminished the meaning of sex! Sex is holy, good, intimate, and only meant to be shared with one other person( your husband or wife). It speaks the language of "I give you my all. I give you my heart, my body, my fertility, my everything".The only way to truthfully speak each and every one of those things is within the sacrament of marriage. This means that sex is the wedding vows made incarnate, how cool is that! This is why the church teaches what it does on sexuality, and saving sex for marriage.
If people aren't at least OPEN to life, they shouldn't be having sex. Sex was made for babies & bonding. If a man said to his wife, " I want your babies without making love to you", most of society ( at least I hope...) would agree that that man would be weird and crazy. If the reverse were to happen, and the same man said to his wife " I want to make love to you without having your babies", society would sadly not think anything is wrong with that. There are natural ways to space out children if need be, whether it be a financial reason, health reason, etc.. NFP is one of the ones most widely known ways. The cool thing is those who use NFP have a less than 2% divorce rate
Children are the supreme gift of marriage!( not to mention they are the cutest beings to ever exist on the planet of the earth :) ) This is not about saying no to contraception, but saying a bigger yes to God's plan for sex and marriage.
Say yes to chastity, purity, and saving the gift of your virginity to be shared with the only person who deserves it because of their commitment to you for the rest of their life, your future husband or wife.
Say yes to life.
P.S ( And if you have made mistakes in your past, know that there is always forgiveness at the cross! We can always be made new through the mercy of Jesus Christ, and re-commit ourselves to saving the gift sex for our future spouse)
