I’m Emily, and I’m new to the pro-life blogging scene! So before I go on, let me explain more about who I am, and what inspired me to be pro-life. Because we all have a story, and it's important for all of us to remember HOW we got to where we are today.
I like to sing, take pictures, and spend time with people close to me.
I enjoy being in the outdoors and going on adventures.
I am a big fan of J.R.R. Tolkien novels, as well as John Green.
If I could, I would have 5 dogs.
People tell me I smile a lot – and that’s the truth.
I will soon be a music teacher. YAY!
I am pro-life...
There is plenty more that I could say to describe myself, but this is a good start. I am so excited to be a part of the Pro-Life Youth blogging team, and I am so happy to share with you WHY this is so close to my heart.
I grew up in a pro-life family. I was always taught that we are to be open to life, and are to play no part in choosing when to end a life. As a kid, I just went along with it – my parents were pro-life, so I was too. But as I got older, "stuff" started happening. And as you may know, all of these things going on in life can potentially change our outlook on what we believe to be true.
When I was 16, this so-called “stuff” started happening. Someone very near and dear to me got pregnant, and it was not a simple situation. Seeing someone close to me go through such a hard time (which should have been a joyful time) was not the greatest, but I was so proud of her and her brave spirit. She held to all that she believed, and chose to raise this baby with her boyfriend – now her husband! In this situation that seemed so “scary” at first, so much light and beauty came out of it. Seeing and experiencing life’s events with someone so close to me truly changed my life forever; I had never looked up to someone so much in my life until that moment. To choose life is not always an “easy” choice, but our decisions are not be made based on ease, they are to be made out of love and respect for one another. Just as my friend was a light to this world, and just as her baby was another light to this world, we are all to be a light in dark situations! Our lives emit a radiance and beauty that is unlike anything else.
I look forward to interacting more with you all through this blog, and I am excited to hear back from you, as well. Being pro-life is not just about babies being born, it is truly a lifestyle, and I am excited to share in it with you. Have a lovely and blessed day, and remember to be a light!
