This is the first of 8 posts about George's reasons against abortion.
Why I am against abortion. Reason 1 = Huge numbers of women regret their abortion and abortion creates many serious mental health issues.
One of the first reasons why I am against abortion is that huge numbers of women actually regret their abortion and more awful is that, a sizeable amount of women feel pressured into getting an abortion because of family, friends or partner.
This obviously is completely wrong because abortion was made legal so that a women can have the “right to choose”, where as more and more women as it is turning out do not have that right personally and instead they are being pressured into getting an abortion, which is not their choice at all. The story of forced abortions is not so commonly known as compared to other countries such as China which carries out mass forced abortions or/and the women are pressured into getting one as such services will be taken away from them to fit into China’s rules of the one child policy. This is not a single country issue, it is a worldwide issue and wanting abortion to be illegal and banned is not just an American thing, or Indian thing, or British thing or Chinese thing, it is a worldwide thing.
There is no doubt that huge numbers of women are forced to have an abortion which undermines the “right to choose” which is why it was legalised in some countries such as the United States with the “constitutional right” ha. ha, you mean right to murder? ha. ha. Thank God that more and more Americans are waking up to the abortion lie. But there seems to be a general feeling amongst Pro-Choicers that forced abortions do not happen at all in developed countries such as the US. Because if they did, well their movement would look rather cheap and horrific? Not that it already doesn’t to like-minded people like me. It does happen and many women have come out to say they have been forced/pressured to have an abortion.
- 64 percent of abortions involve some sort of coercion.
- 45 percent of men interviewed at abortion clinics recalled urging abortion, including 37 percent of married men.
- Teens are at higher risk for becoming victims of coerced abortion.
By the word “coercion” this means going against the women’s wishes.
A team of doctors in the United Kingdom were seeking an “urgent” ruling from the Court of Protection allowing them to forcibly abort the child of a woman they deem unfit to make the decision herself. How is this “CHOICE”?? IT IS NOT. The sad thing is that this happens A LOT. Not just with court cases, but with boyfriends, patenters, husbands, family and friends. There have been reports of children being forced into the abortion clinic.
A “choice” that was designed to empower women has resulted commonly to many women when they find out they are pregnant to the wishes of men/family/friends. The whole basis of abortion being legal was deigned to “stop backstreet abortions which were dangerous and widespread” – allegedly. (I will do another blog on this later in time) and to give the “women a choice” has backfired due to more and more reports and evidence that the problem of forced abortion is much more common than previously thought and imagined.
There is no doubt about it that with women speaking out and polls that huge numbers of women feel regret over their abortions. A British poll found that 82 percent of the women who responded indicated they deeply regretted their abortion decisions. This is a huge number.
Abortion is not just a “thing” people do. It is shown in polls and other scientific studies on the mind that it is a long lasting effect on how people live with it and most women regret it. It has been confirmed by many studies that women are more likely to have to have mental health problems after abortion. An example of this is an report from China in 2012.
A study which was published in the Bulletin of Clinical Psychopharmacology by Z. Huang and colleagues from the Anhui Medical College in China finds that women who had an induced abortion a year or more prior to the pregnancy were 49% more likely to experience depression and 114% more likely to suffer from anxiety in the first trimester of subsequent pregnancy compared to women with no abortion history.
Women who had an induced abortion less than one year prior to the pregnancy experienced a 97% increased risk of anxiety in the first trimester and 64% greater risk of depression in the second trimester. Women who experienced spontaneous abortion one year or more before the pregnancy, however, did not face greater risk of anxiety or depression. The new study adds to the rapidly growing literature on the effects of abortion on the mental health of women.
Despite the widespread abortion culture in China, this study shows similar results to studies conducted in the United States, Australia, Norway, and South Africa. Some people may say this is “China” and does not harm women in other countries. WRONG. It happens worldwide. This was just an example.
The following is a list of potential emotional and psychological side effects of an abortion. The intensity or duration of these effects will vary from one person to another. Potential side effects include:
- Guilty feelings
- Sense of loneliness or isolation
- Loss of self confidence
- Insomnia or nightmares
- Relationship issues
- Suicidal thoughts and feelings
That’s it guys. That sums up shortly why I am against abortion reason 1 which is based on the problem of forced abortions and issues such as regret. I hope you all enjoyed it and for those Pro-Lifers out there, I hope this has educated you in this problem that abortion creates and I hope it encourages you to speak out more for the unborn and to protect the unborn. For those who have never really thought about the issue of abortion or who are Pro-Choice then I hope this has opened your eyes to the real reality of abortion and the problems that the issue of abortion creates, which is forced and mental health issues (there are many more, this is just one blog = one reason why I am against abortion) and I urge you to join the right movement and to become ProLife and start to speak out for the protection of the unborn.
