On February 18, a national campaign started to help in the Pro-Life movement. Reaching out to small and large communities around the world, 40 Days for Life started another session to help save lives. Since then, 265 mothers' minds have been changed by this organization, and it isn't even over yet.
prayer and fasting, constant vigil, and community outreach, they aim to change the world. Based off of the length of biblical events, the campaign consists of 40 consecutive days filled with their 3 tenets, listed above.
Prayer and fasting are meant to allow the program and its participants closer to God. God, because it is a religious organization, is a focal point of the group. The end to abortion will only be obtained, or at least will be quickened, through His intercession; therefore prayer and fasting, offering up something, are the greatest way to invoke His intercessions.
The central piece to the 40 Days of Life campaign is the constant vigil. During the entire event, a continuous presence is made outside of an abortion clinic, or some other public place if necessary. These volunteers create a " peaceful and educational presence" and represent the other ways to the women considering abortions. This is a great way to spread our powerful message to all that enter the clinic.
Finally, the entire event relies on its community outreach. Using the media, 40 Days of Life spreads its message throughout the community. Churches and other religious institutions form the foundation of the program. Door-to-door petitions ensure the entire community is involved or at least aware of the event.
Using these three principals, the 40 Days of Life has had miraculous results. Out of their campaigns they have achieved:
- 650,000 individual participants
- 17,500 churches participated
- 9,699 lives saved from abortion
- 107 abortion workers quit
- 59 abortion facilities closed
